Guinea Pig Breeds

There are several breeds of Guinea Pigs, some with short hair some with long, some have curly hair and others with colics all over their bodies. Some Guinea Pigs take a lot of grooming by their owners, some take little grooming. Each breed is the same basic size. There are also types, or color coats within the breeds, such as Siamese, Tortoishel, Calico and more.

OTHER and RARE GUINEA PIG BREEDS BREEDS

There are a few breeds that are not yet approved by the mother clubs. It may be because the Cavies are not breeding true yet (breeding true = pairs having babies that look as the parents do). Or because there is not enough interest in these breeds to take them to shows and develop all it takes to become approved breeds.

There are also Breeds of Guinea Pigs that are approved and common in other Countries. Here are a few of those Breeds. I hope to add photos very soon.
